How to calculate your work hours
- Choose Weekly for seven days or Biweekly for two weeks.
- Enter a start and end time for each shift, then add any unpaid break in whole minutes.
- Use Add shift for a split shift. Check your daily, weekly, and total hours as you go.
- Export a CSV or print your timesheet. Your entries are also saved in this browser.
Simple inputs. Clear calculations.
For each shift, subtract the start time from the end time, then subtract the unpaid break. If the end is earlier than the start, count it as the following day. We add exact whole minutes first and round decimal hours to two places only for display.
A regular working day
09:00 to 17:00 is 8 hours. Subtract a 30-minute break to get 450 minutes: 7 h 30 min, or 7.50 decimal hours. Five identical days total 37 h 30 min (37.50 hours).
A shift across midnight
22:00 to 06:00 is 8 hours across midnight. Subtract a 45-minute break to get 435 minutes: 7 h 15 min, or 7.25 decimal hours. The whole shift counts toward the day on which it starts.
A few things worth knowing
Does this calculate overtime or pay?
No. This tool adds time worked. It does not apply overtime rules, pay rates, payroll rounding, or local employment requirements.
What happens to my timesheet?
It saves automatically in local storage in this browser, on this device. Taskono does not upload it. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to see it. Clear the timesheet when using a shared device.
Can I enter more than one shift per day?
Yes. Add up to eight shifts per day. Each shift has its own unpaid break. Overlapping shifts are added separately, so check your entries to avoid counting the same time twice.
How do overnight shifts and daylight saving work?
An earlier end time means the next day. Equal start and end times mean zero hours. This calculator uses clock times, not dates or timezones, so it does not adjust for daylight-saving changes. Split shifts lasting 24 hours or more into shorter entries.
Why do decimal hours look different from minutes?
Minutes are divided by 60. For example, 30 minutes is 0.50 hours, not 0.30. Totals use exact minutes, so separately rounded decimal rows may differ slightly from the rounded overall total.
Can I use it without an internet connection?
An already loaded calculator can calculate without sending your entries anywhere. Offline page loading is not supported, so keep the tab open and export a copy before closing it.
Working with dates, goals or pay estimates?
Use the Work Hours Calculator for a single shift or a flexible dated schedule, with custom ranges and optional targets.
